Napa Valley • 2022 Vintage
The 2022 vintage was a challenging one with some major heat events just before harvest. The old Charbono vines have seen a lot, and while there were a few touch and go days, our Charbono held strong and stood up to the heat allowing the wine to maintain freshness. Classic characteristics of black pepper, dried cranberry, and nutmeg on the nose, and freshness on the palate display flavors of red stone fruit, pomegranate, salted watermelon. Elegantly balanced with a juicy mouthfeel that will pair excellently with summer barbeques.

Redefining the art of the blend
Inspired by the original red blend first made by Italian immigrants who settled in Napa Valley, this expressive wine carries that spirit forward through an unexpected mix of varietals and a distinctly modern point of view.

"What first caught my interest is the unique grape. I purchased this bottle to share with friends to celebrate my milestone birthday, and we all enjoyed it. They commented on what a nice opening the wine has. Beautiful bottle as well. Special shout out to Kim and Amanda for their amazing customer service!"
"I am a charbono grape snob. There is not to many to have this beautifully sinful grape on the vine anymore, started in France, France does not have as many if anymore. California got lucky keeping it alive. I have purchased bottles from 2021 through 2023 and everyone of them has been superb, divine. BUY them before they're gone"
"I have never heard of this type of wine so was concerned but I was happily pleasantly surprised. Enjoyed it immensely!"
"A very interesting red wine. It drinks like a full body cab"
"An extraordinary and superlative elixir!"
"Awesome taste!"
"A great red! Always smooth!"
"Did know anything about Charbono grapes. Had this wine in all four of my club orders. But this time I got two bottles."
"Allow this one to breathe and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the backbone of blue, black fruit flavors."
"The charbono grape varietal was new to me until Prisoner introduced Headlock. It is my favorite red wine they produce. Its complex, dry with a wonderful finish. This is an exceptional wine."
