2022 WINEMAKER SERIES YOUNTVILLE ZINFANDEL

Zinfandel was nearly ready when the heat came and was therefore less affected. Tieddeman Zinfandel has been the anchor for our Zinfandel sourcing for many years. The Prisoner has been the primary force for keeping this groung planted to zinfandel and not replanted to Cabernet. The vineyard is situated on the border of yountville and stag's leap on State lane on the eastern side of town. The vineyard was planted in 1978, with two blocks one head trained and the other VSP on a bi-lateral cordon. With this vineage, the plants are very well regulated from a yield perpective and only produce about 3 tons/acre. The fruit is very expressive of its site even when the brix get high and shows great minerality while demonstrating all of the great red and black fruit jaminess and spiciness we love in Zinfandel! For these reasons we are excited to showcase this wine with a spotlight on the sense of place and demonstrate why it is so important to us.
