Grail is our most deliberate expression yet—born from three standout blocks in Wappo Hill Vineyard, chosen for their precision with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The fruit is intense and textured, shaped by thoughtful farming and steady ripening. Aged 18 months in 60% new French oak, it’s a wine of power and polish—dark, structured, and unapologetically bold, with a finish that stays with you.

The 2023 vintage tested patience and paid it back in full. Heavy winter rains and a slow start gave way to a long, lingering summer, stretching harvest into October and building layered flavor, deep color, and striking balance.

About Our Vineyards

When you outgrow winemaking tradition, you must forge your own path. And we did. The Prisoner exists because of the collaboration with our growers, many of which have been with us since the very beginning—from the Solari Family Vineyard in Calistoga, where old school sensibilities meet new techniques, to the Korte Ranch in St. Helena, a vineyard whose diligence outlasted the Prohibition and has sustained four generations.

91 Pts. "Packed with very ripe flavors, 15.5% stated alcohol, and plenty of coconut-scented oak riding atop its mostly black-toned fruit. Notable sweetness helps balance out the 35% new oak and buffers the wine's tannin load, resulting in a very big wine with forgivingly soft texture."
