From the moment you lay your eyes on its rich, honied hue, one thing is clear: our Falanghina is special. Grapes are hand-harvested from a small block of vines in the Clarksburg AVA, where the climate mimics the Italian coast Falanghina calls home. Much like a red wine, we leave the grapes to ferment on the skins to gain structure, weight, and beautiful color. We’re left with a citrusy, bright pour that’s balanced by a pleasant weight courtesy of the skin contact process.
The bouquet on this 2023 Skins fermented Falanghina is a glorious mix of lemon zest, bright dried apricot, ginger, chamomile, some nuanced floral notes, quince, pears and honey. It has a chalkiness in the background alluding to its time on skins and oxidatively handled fermentation, which adds complexity and intrigue.
