WINEMAKER UPDATE

The winery and vineyards are always quiet over the holidays. Now we are all excited to be back and working on our 2023 wines. Active pruning in the vineyards means we are getting ready to begin the 2024 harvest season. Currently, we are working on solidifying our white blends as well as tasting through the entire 2023 inventory. That is quite the task but with such a delicious vintage, this is proving to be an enjoyable and rewarding part of the process. Our cellar team is attending to the wines; topping barrels and putting together bottling blends. We love sharing our wines with you and know you will love them too.

2022 COMPLICIT RED BLEND

This is our second vintage making this wine. We made a few refinements when selecting barrels from our partner, High West Distillery, to include both Rye and Bourbon whiskey barrels bringing different spice and vanilla notes to the aromatic profile. This 2022 vintage is very similar in composition to the 2021 using all the same varietals and vineyard blocks, but with the addition of Tempranillo. Ahead of the harvest we hypothesized that we really loved the interaction of the Rye barrel with our Tempranillo, and we were right! The Tempranillo brings added depth of currant and dried fruit character. We are so excited for you to receive this second iteration of Complicit… CHEERS!

2022 THE PRISONER RED BLEND CALIFORNIA

2021 saw exceptionally low rainfall, and relatively small canopies, which led to below average crop size. Smaller crops in our vineyards resulted in amazing density of color, flavor and tannin. We have found the 2021 vintage to be spectacular and feel that it was one of the best in recent years.

The 2021 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Sirah. Made in the same iconic style as The Prisoner Red Blend, this features aromas of black cherry, vanilla and ripe plum. Following up with hints of blackberry, currant, and plum are layered with dried, crushed herbs and licorice. On the palate; we find notes of cedar, vanilla, nutmeg, and toasted coconut taking the lead while plum and dried blackberries culminate in a lush, full mouthfeel and a lengthy, balanced finish. Delicious to drink now and for the next 5-7 years.

2021 DOMAINE CURRY CABERNET SAUVIGNON NAPA VALLEY

The reintroduction of our bold and balanced Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Age-worthy with a persistent, elegant mouthfeel. Expect supple, velvety tannins rounded out by a savory and lengthy finish.30% new oak with half American and half French oak aged for 10 months in barrel. On the nose, dried blackberry, dried acai berries, hints of cedar and tobacco leaf are accented by sweet spices of clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg. On the palate, the red blend is dominated by ripe dark red cherry, and black berry coulis along with hints of anise on the finish. The mouthfeel is full bodied and soft but lifted by vibrant acidity beautifully balanced by ripe soft tannins. Pair this with anything BBQ, Pappardelle with sausage and fennel seed Bolognese, or even a Chicken Mole Tostada.
